Known for their true blue eggs, Ameraucanas are an American breed developed in the 1970’s. These beautiful birds originated from the blue egg laying Araucanas of South America and are recognized as a separate breed by the American Poultry Association. Our Ameraucanas all have muffs and beards.
Not to be confused with “Easter Eggers” or “Americanas” that you buy from the feed store, all of our birds are from purebred stock and are from bright blue, not green, eggs.
We have two breeding flocks of Ameraucanas. The first consists of blue, black and splash (BBS) Ameraucanas that are all penned together. The unique thing about this color set is that you can breed these color varieties together and get pure colored chicks. Because of this, chicks you receive may be any of the three color varieties, with the majority of chicks being blue.
We also have a flock of self-blue (lavender) Ameraucanas. This flock consists of lavender and black split to lavender birds. Black split to lavender birds possess one lavender gene but phenotypically appear to be black.
All of our Ameraucanas are bred toward the standard of perfection (SOP).
Lavender Ameraucanas will be available in summer 2019. We are not currently accepting pre-paid orders for this color variety.
